A tale spanning times of war, coups and betrayals, civil war, exiles and migrations, comradeship and the enduring strength of family bonds. The book journeys from cities to villages, and transverses many landscapes and borders through the #history of #modern #Greece.

George Zangalis was born in Greece in 1931, the fifth in a family of six children. He grew up and did his secondary education during the Resistance of the Greek people and his own family against the German occupation and the Anglo-American imposed civil war. He moved to Australia in 1950. He has been a foundation member and leading official of the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria, the Federation of Ethnic Communities Councils of Australia, and Community Broadcasting. He served for several years on the ABC State and National Advisory Council and the SBS board in the early 1980’s. He is currently a board member, and a current affairs broadcaster, of Melbourne’s ethnic communities radio station »3ZZZ», and Vice -President of the »Fair go for Pensioners Coalition». He is the author of 3 more books ‘’From 2ZZZ to 3ZZZ: a Short History of Ethnic Broadcasting in Australia’’, ‘’Migrant Workers and Ethnic Communities — their Struggles for Social Justice and Cultural Rights: the Role of Greek-Australians’’ and ‘’Golden Holden’’.
